About Us

MIRAKAZ derives its name from a blend of Miras (heritage) and Markaz (centre), reflecting a space where heritage, identity, and community come together.

Indian Muslims form one of the most historically rich and diverse Muslim communities in the world. Spread across the length and breadth of India, we reflect a wide range of languages, regional cultures, intellectual traditions, and social experiences.

With a population exceeding 200 million, Indian Muslims also constitute one of the largest Muslim populations living within a non‑Muslim‑majority country.

The Diaspora Context

As we migrate and settle across different parts of the world, we carry with us a layered identity and heritage. Yet outside India, the identity of Indian Muslims often becomes absorbed into broader categories. Between these perspectives, the distinct identity of Indian Muslims—shaped by both faith and the diverse civilizational fabric of India—rarely finds clear visibility of its own. As a result, meaningful connection with the wider Indian Muslim diaspora often becomes a challenge, particularly beyond regional groupings or associations.

The Role of MIRAKAZ

MIRAKAZ responds to this reality as a platform designed to enable meaningful connections within the Indian Muslim diaspora.

We are not a representative body or advocacy group. Our role is simple — we  bring people to make friends out of strangers,to form family alliances , to network, to mentor .

We create welcoming engagement spaces where members of the diaspora can meet, connect, and feel part of the  community

Our Mission

To enable meaningful connections within the Indian Muslim diaspora by creating welcoming spaces where individuals and families can engage, connect, and feel part of the community

What We Strive To Do :

We strive to build a connected Indian Muslim diaspora grounded in shared values, heritage, and a sense of belonging. Our aim is to connect both the current and future generations of the diaspora, preserve and celebrate cultural identity, facilitate intergenerational engagement and knowledge exchange, and encourage active community participation and leadership.

At its heart, MIRAKAZ exists to bring people together — not from a position of representation, but from a place of genuine connection
